Ateni Sobolevna was born in Nizhnevartovsky District, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous-Okrug – Yugra, in a family of reindeer herders, near the Varjogan settlement. Ateni Sobolevna got married and moved to live in the village. She took an active part in the cultural life of the village, in the events of the Nizhnevartovsky District, performing the folklore of the Forest Nenets on stage. Ateni Sobolevna knows many fairy tales and songs, personal songs of the Forest Nenets.
