Maria Stepanovna was born in a camp near the village of Yuilsk. She graduated from the Kazan eight-year school. Maria Stepanovna entered and graduated from the Khanty-Mansiysk Pedagogical College. She worked as a teacher in the Kazym boarding school, then worked as a primary school teacher in the village of Yuilsk. Then Maria Stepanovna moved to the village of Kazym and began to work as a kindergarten teacher. Maria Stepanovna performs Khanty fairy tales. She took over the style of performance from her parents.
